STEVEN OTFINOSKI has written over fifty stage plays and musicals, most of which have been produced Off-Off Broadway and in regional theaters.  

History Alive! grew out of his collaboration with Mr. Boockvor as Director on STRATFORD CHARACTERS, a play containing dramatic monologues of famous people from Stratford, Connecticut's past to commemorate the town's 300th birthday. Stratford Characters, was also presented in England as part of the Stratford-upon-Avon Annual Festival of the Arts and had a cast headed by Broadway and television professionals James Noble, Rex Everhart, Denise Pence and Richard Merrell.

In addition to his History Alive! characters, Steve has written ANNE BONNY: PIRATE QUEEN, a one-woman show and a one-man show, A PIRATE’S LIFE.

Other staged works in New York include REMEMBER THEN (Lincoln Center Playwrights' Series), THE BOOKWORM (Barbara Barondess Theatre Lab), STOOGE NIGHT and CUTTING EDGE (American Theatre of Actors), and THE VENTRILOQUIST (Quaigh Theatre, which produced nine of his plays). STILL LIFE WITH DEAD GRIZZLY, about the life and death of explorer Meriwether Lewis, was a winner of the Rhode Island Playwrights' Competition. THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA, a children's musical won the Annual Playwriting Award from the Community Children's Theatre of Kansas City, Missouri. Two of his one-acts have competed in the Samuel French Short Play Competition. FINDING WORK was a runner-up in the Actors Theatre of Louisville's Ten-Minute Play Contest.

Steve is a member of the Dramatists Guild. He has studied musical theater writing with the late Lehmann Engel at BMI and was a member of the ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop under the direction of Charles Strouse. 

Also a young adult and children's author, Steve has written over 150 books and a hundred classroom plays. He has also written two adult books on rock ‘n’ roll - THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROCK INSTRUMENTALS and THE GOLDEN AGE OF NOVELTY SONGS, both published by Billboard Books. His biography appears in the 1989 edition of SOMETHING ABOUT THE AUTHOR and THE EIGHTH BOOK OF JUNIOR AUTHORS AND ILLUSTRATORS (2000).

Steve earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT, where he currently teaches literature and writing in the Core Writing program.  His novel, "Throne of the Third Heaven" received an honorable mention in the 2011 Fairfield Book Prize comp
